ARTIST BIO

Dea Segatto, 48, is a Brazilian artist based in New York City. She graduated in Environmentalism and Cool Hunting from the European Institute of Design and studied drawing at Escola Panamericana, both in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since 2018, she has dedicated herself exclusively to the Visual Arts. Her art goes through experiments and hybridizations between the techniques of collage, cutting, ceramics, painting, and assemblage. Segatto's production is strongly influenced by her relationship with the ocean, as well as by Brazilian tropicality and environmental issues. She is especially known for her ability to create colors and combine different palettes. At the beginning of her career, her journey of self-knowledge and mental health was also seen in her pieces. The artist is in a new phase in which she explores organic forms and the contradictions between human beings and nature. Segatto had exhibited in institutions such as Plaxall Gallery LIC, Atlantic Gallery Soho, Aha Fine Art Gallery Brooklyn among others. Also won City Arts Grants for her Collage work.
